Happy St. Patrick's Day

No, I'm not Irish. I'm 100% full-blooded American Indian, but I'll be participating in celebrating Jon's Irish heritage--of what there is. I don't know of any other Irish holidays, but I suppose we can theoretically celebrate the 162nd anniversary of the Irish surviving the great potato famine of 1848.

I was home in Duluth last weekend, I got in some bike rides and hung out with Cheggy, the big brown dog, and Haga, the little old Shitzu. It was a weekend of roadkill, too. I saw lots of roadkill out there, with me contributing to the problem. I was driving my sister's car with my brother on I-35 at night and out of nowhere came this white coyote. It was so sad, we went right over the poor creature, but fortunately for the coyote it was a quick death. We were lucky our Mom wasn't in the car. She would have killed it twice. She has a history with finishing off animals. More than once she has finished off deer after hitting it with a vehicle. On two occasions she used a crowbar, and another time she didn't have a crowbar so she twisted its neck with her bare hands. She is an animal lover, so much that she hates to see them suffer.

Last week Jon and I spent some time in Minneapolis/St.Paul since we had some time off. We hung out with Katie at her place in NE Mpls. I showed him around the lab, we went out in NE and Dinkytown, we went to the MN Zoo (where we also saw Alice in Wonderland at the IMAX in 3D), hit up the Mill City Museum, and did some shopping.

View from the observation deck at Mill City Museum, looking over at the lab.

Be safe out there, DON'T DROWN.
